Are you a good storyteller? Do you hold an audience when you talk? Do you know a good storyteller? Someone you hold on to their every word.

Soft skills and Emotional Intelligence has been around for longer than you realise but it is only now it is becoming more mainstream. They have been hailed with the skills to have for the future. It is these skills that have set successful people apart for centuries.

Storytelling is one of those ‘new’ skills all of us should be working on regardless of occupation or where we are in life. Storytelling doesn’t discriminate. Storytelling brings people together. Before the written word it was how history was passed on. Yes, the subject matter changed as the story was told each time, but that made it more engaging, more exciting and made it want to be told again. Take the stories we know now. The tale of Robbin Hood from example. Was he the one who stole from the rich and gave to the poor? Who cares?? We just want to hear the story of a moral and just band who fought against the tyrants to distribute the wealth so people could afford to eat.

So where does this fit into our modern lives? I will offer some examples of where storytelling is in our current world, in the hope, it will inspire you to learn to tell stories and at the very least to get you thinking…
